If you think the process of opening your pool in the spring is simply performing the closing process in reverse after it’s been winterized, it’s important to know it’s not. When opening your pool in Roswell, there are certain steps that must be taken and pool service that must be made to determine if any pool is ready to use.

Roswell Pool Repair

Before Opening Your Pool

When getting started on your spring pool opening, you will need to check the water for ice to make sure there is none and wait until it is unlikely to freeze until the following winter. Every year when you open your pool, it is important to restock your pool chemicals and buy new test strips. Properly dispose of all expired chemicals and do not use any chemical in or around your pool that is already past its expiration date.

Prepare Cleaning Equipment

Get all of your cleaning gear together and assemble it. For the easiest access, set it up close to the pool deck. This is the time to pull all of the safety equipment you have out too. Visually inspect it for damage and wear before setting it back up for service. Go over your safety plan and adjust it if necessary, communicating it to all of your friends and family that will be swimming in your pool. Review the safety plan periodically with children.

Pool Cover

Before removing the pool cover, remove all standing water and debris. Try to get as much of the dirt, debris, and water to one side of the pool cover to keep it from getting it into the water when your cover is removed.

Crack Examination

Carefully check the pool floor, walls, hoses, pipes, components of the equipment, cleaning gear, and tiles for any fissures or cracks. Pool repairs will need to be made to repair surface damage caused by harsh winter freezes and frost to the deck material, coping, waterline tile, and the perimeter drain system.

Accessory Reinstallation

Pull out diving boards, slides, and all other accessories and parts examining them for any cracks or damage. Make all necessary repairs before securely reinstalling them in place.

Power On

In order to turn the power back on for the pool’s pump and recirculation system, you will need to go to the main electrical service panel and flick the beaker switches or reinstall the circuit breakers. Next you will switch on the power to the filter and pump to ensure the system is running correctly and smoothly. If you need to make adjustments, turn off the system and then retest.

Vacuum

When the system is already in operation and running smoothly, you can proceed to vacuum the pool floors and walls. Start at the shallow end from the top of the walls down to the floor and move towards the deep end’s main drain.

Final Words

A responsible swimming pool owner will understand the fundamentals of opening their pool in the spring if they are going to do it on their own. This includes being able to identify damages, make minor pool repairs, and recognize when an experienced Roswell pool repairs professional is required for more extensive renovations. By following the advice from the experts at Pinnacle Pool Services you can avoid costly pool repairs and prevent problems in the future.
